This last week I kept being inundated with Bible verses from Colossians. After doing some reading, I found out that the book of Colossians is about creating and maintaining connections.
Connections with fellow Christians.
Connections that are healthy.
Connections that foster forgiveness.
Connections built on love.
And... connecting with Christ!
(of course)
The one that struck me the most was LOVE.
Colossians 3:14
Most of all, let love guide your life, for then the whole church will stay together in perfect harmony.
It made me reflect on what actually guides my life. Am I loving? Yes. But does it guide my life? Unfortunately not. Sadly I think my life is guided more by selfish desires and the need to have control. Ugh... a constant battle... and to which something many of us can relate.
So the question is...
How would my life be different
if I let love guide me?
Perhaps I'd be able to create and maintain more healthy relationships. Perhaps I'd be able to forgive {myself} more. PERHAPS I'D BE ABLE TO LOVE GOD MORE.
And if I am able to love God (whom I cannot see), then I will be able to offer love to others. And if I'm able to offer love to others, then...
"the church will stay together in perfect harmony." (see how that works?!)
As Christians, we make up the body of Christ. Just as he is in each of us, we are in Him, because he created us. And if we want to find perfect harmony, TOGETHER, we must choose to love one another.
But first we must love God.
And once we learn to love God - fully - we will learn to let love guide our lives!
Go ahead... I dare you!
