As I was getting ready to leave work today, 2 hours later than I should have, I was feeling, frustrated, worthless, confused and defeated.
So I went home, ate a big dinner and filled the empty spaces with a lot of chocolate. Then I pulled out my Bible.
And God led me to read Psalms 8:3-5...
"When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think of them... Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor."
My first thought was: If only I had read this before I ate, I could have saved at least 3 pieces of chocolate for tomorrow! ... Maybe!
My second thought: I was reminded of Genesis and the creation event. God created all things to be good! We have the mark of the Creator and so we are good. God has declared us valuable. We are NOT worthless.
Then I read Psalms 9:4...
You have vindicted me; You have endorsed my work, declaring from your throne that it is good. "
Ahh haaa! God has already endorsed the work of my hands, because it is He who does all things. And it is good. Not to mention, he sees all things, knows all things and remembers all things. God sees what I do with my girls at work; God knows how hard I work to help the grieving boy stop crying; He see me offer compassion and love; He knows the time I put into creating plans; He remembers every detail about my days. Because I am his. And he cares.
And, in some ways I was throwing myself a pity party and allowing pride to take ahold of my heart. Yuck! But God promises in Psalms 9:9, "He is a regufe for them in their times of trouble. All those who know your mercy, Lord, will count on you for help."
God is good.
He created all things. He is so good.
He knows all things. He is so so good.
I am not worthless.
His mercy endures forever.
He is so so so good!
